It is just a stone throw on Hadrian’s wall path. We arrived on Sunday which is normally quiet(which we like) as there is no bus service from Carlisle to Bowness-on-solway. This is a great place for camping. There is a service cabin that has long table(we could play card game on the table), snack and coffee corner, library, clean shower and toilet also plenty information for the wall walkers. Everything is well organised. Tent pitch has nice short grass and well maintained with plenty of outdoor bench tables. It’s easy for us to cook from gas stove and eat on the table. Paul is very friendly, really helpful and very kind. He can recommend you anything around Carlisle from places to visit to places to eat. Since the beginning of the trip in Bowness-on-solway to Wallsend we enjoyed staying in this camp the most. Thank you and hope we could visit this place again 😊

We camped here at the start and end of our Hadrian's wall cycle trip. Lovely flat, quiet site. Toilets and showers in a log cabin which also had a space to sit in case it rained and a kettle that could be used. Really friendly campsite owner too

Immaculately kept campsite just half a mile from the Hadrian's Wall Path, and even closer to a really nice pub selling absolutely delicious food. The owners are friendly and very helpful - not just with your stay here, but for other parts of the walk and other nearby attractions and amenities. The place looks brand new, but they've been established for about 15 years, apparently; clearly, they spend a lot of time keeping everything in top-notch condition. The showers and toilets are inside a wooden lodge - nothing like the usual damp freezing toilet blocks we're so used to at other sites, and there's a drying room, tea and coffee making facilities and a small store, as well as an indoor dining area, comfy armchair and even a library. If you don't fancy cooking, though, or just fancy an indulgent treat, just a short stroll down the lane is The Drover's Rest, a great pub selling craft beers, lagers and ciders with an impressive menu. The food is delicious, and the portions go beyond generous. Just 4 miles from Carlisle, it's a perfect site for exploring the area, as well as for wall walkers.

1 night camping, couldn't have asked for better location. Host 'Paul' very helpful and attentive. Gave us great advice, booked us in to pub for meal. Mentioned the wetherspoons in Carlisle for breakfast next to train station with safe and secure parking for our bikes, great shout. This man knows his stuff. I'll be back!!!!

Ideal over-night spot for walkers and cyclists on Hadrian's Way. A well-managed quiet site with good facilities and a small selection of essential items to purchase. Nearby Drover's Rest does good food and offers 10% discount on meals.

It's a good setup, and they have all the mod cons you could wish for as a camper. The main lodge itself is very nice, has a shop, wash room, even a mini library of sorts. Paul is the friendly chap that runs the operation, and what a guy he …
